Job Title: Sr. Accountant
Department: Accounts
Reports to: Accounts Manager
Financial Reporting:
Lead the process of closing financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Internal Controls:
Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure integrity in financial reporting.
Design and monitor controls related to Receivables, Payables, Payroll, and other key financial processes.
Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with internal control policies and recommend enhancements as necessary.
Taxation Management:
Manage company taxation, including VAT and corporation tax compliance.
Stay updated on changes in taxation rules and regulations, ensuring timely implementation of necessary adjustments.
Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed to optimize tax planning strategies and minimize tax liabilities.
Budget Preparation and Implementation:
Lead the preparation of annual budgets in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
Monitor budget performance and ensure adherence to financial targets.
Conduct post-implementation analysis to evaluate budget effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Financial Analysis and Forecasting:
Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning processes.
Prepare financial forecasts based on historical data and market trends.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for improving financial performance and achieving organizational goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance,
(CPA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent certification preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Soft Skills:
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
