We are a dynamic, customer-focused online short-term motor insurance company based in Tarporley, Cheshire. We have a strong track record of designing, building, and running our own software and products. To support our continued success and growth, we are looking to hire an experienced Senior Python Engineer.
Role overview
As part of the company, you'll work closely with our IT team to build and improve our pricing and data platforms. The role involves collaborating with different teams throughout the company and you will be involved in the planning and design to coding and maintenance.
We’re looking for self-starters who are seeking a fast-paced environment where they can make a difference. Our team is small, which means each individual can have a big impact on our direction and growth. Whilst a large part of this role will be to focus on delivery, you will also be mentoring more junior members of the team and ensuring they are taking the next steps in their career.
Key responsibilities
• Designing, implementing and maintaining our pricing platforms
• Implementing, managing and delivering automation test packs to make sure the pricing systems are reliant and robust
• Collaborating with product stakeholders and other members of the team to scope and build estimate optimal solutions for business problems
• Supporting junior members of the team and helping them to advance technically
• Deliver your implementations from start to finish
Skills and experience
• Highly experienced in Python & SQL languages
• Well versed in Component, API & UI testing
• Experience in managing/mentoring junior members of the team
• Experience in working closely with multi-disciplinary teams across business & IT units
• Good understanding of software development lifecycles
• Are comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity
• Able to effectively manage others (both internally and externally)
• The ability to make decisions balancing different factors such as business requirements, technical integrity, overall priorities etc.
• A continuous improvement mindset
• An understanding of using git or other source control systems and common branching strategies
Hugely advantageous to have
• Worked previously in insurance roles, with a sound understanding of Pricing & Underwriting
• Mathematical background desirable
• CI/CD pipelines
• DevOps source control tools e.g. git
• Command line programming
• Automation testing
The interview Process:
Our interview process involves 3 stages:
• Initial call with our Talent Acquisition team.
• 30 min Interview with the hiring manager.
• 1-hour technical interview with the leadership team.
